The Regional Government begins Wednesday a three-day working visit to São Miguel, where the President of the Government, Vasco Cordeiro, will open and visit various investments implemented in the economic and social areas on this island.
 
This initiative follows Vasco Cordeiro's decision for the Government to carry out working visits to the islands of Faial, Terceira and São Miguel; the first two were held recently.
 
On Wednesday morning, the President of the Government visits the ultrasound system installed on the Green Lake in Sete Cidades as part of the efforts to combat eutrophication. The Government will then visit controlled-cost housing developments are under construction in the village of São Vicente Ferreira and the commercial port in Ponta Delgada.
 
In the afternoon, Vasco Cordeiro presides over the ceremony of laying the first stone of Seara de Trigo Association Occupational Activity Centre, an investment over 1.2 million Euros. He also will also receive, in audience, the Association of Municipalities of São Miguel Island. The first day of the Government's visit ends with the meeting between the Regional Government and the Island Council.
 
On Thursday, the second day of this working visit, the President of the Government opens the remodelling works of Maia Health Unit in the municipality of Ribeira Grande and visits the works taking place in Grota da Cancela, a significant investment of about 2.3 million Euros. Vasco Cordeiro will also sign protocols for electric mobility with the Municipal Councils of Ponta Delgada, Ribeira Grande, Lagoa, Vila Franca do Campo, Povoação and Nordeste.
 
On Thursday afternoon, already in the municipality of Povoação, the President of the Government presides over the opening of the improvements works of Queimada Rural Road, which will directly benefit more than twenty farmers, and the opening of the expansion and remodelling works of Maria Isabel do Carmo Medeiros Foundation nursery and kindergarten.
 
On the morning of the last day, Vasco Cordeiro chairs the opening session of the conference "Knowing the Azores Sea" in Vila Franca do Campo under the celebrations of the National Maritime Day and will then visit the Bovine Fattening and Finishing Centre of the Agricultural Union Cooperative in Lagoa.
 
On Friday afternoon, the President of the Azorean Government will chair the ceremony for the authorisation of housing support in the municipalities of Ponta Delgada, Lagoa, Ribeira Grande and Vila Franca do Campo. He will also preside over the opening of the Temporary Shelter and Support Centre for the Homeless in Ponta Delgada, an investment of around four million Euros.
 
The programme of this working visit also includes meetings between Regional Secretaries and several entities from São Miguel as well as visits to companies and investments in the various areas of governance. There will also be two sessions where the members of the Government will be available to receive the citizens who wish to pose directly their questions to them. the first session takes place Wednesday in Ribeira Grande, while the second is scheduled for Thursday in Povoação.
