The President of the Government of the Azores informed the Legislative Assembly on the decision to recommend economist Paula Elsa de Carvalho Moniz as President of the Administration Board of Santo Espírito Hospital on the island of Terceira.

This notification falls within the new legislation that provides for the prior hearing at the Legislative Assembly on the names recommended for leadership positions at public companies, before being appointed.

Paula Elsa de Carvalho Moniz holds a degree in Finance from the Higher Institute of Economic and Financial Sciences of the Technical University of Lisbon and a Postgraduate degree in European Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the Catholic University. She has a wide international experience in the banking sector, mainly in Belgium Denmark, where she lived.

She has held several positions at national and international banking institutions: leadership positions in the area of investment and corporate banking, business management and advisory, management of real estate and movable heritage, as well as in areas related to the Health sector.

She was a guest professor at Lusíada University, International University and Technical University of Lisbon. She also held a scholarship from the "Fundação do Oriente" and taught at the Bank Training Institute in Portugal, Angola and Guinea-Bissau.

Paula Elsa de Carvalho Moniz has participated as speaker at various seminars held in Portugal and abroad in the areas of business and municipal management, banking sector, and social and civic economy. She was also a specialised tutor in a non-profit organisation dedicated to education and the provision of continue care.
