The president of the Government of the Azores guaranteed last night that, if the current prices of the fuel are maintained, it will be possible to lower significantly, on the 1st of October, the price of the diesel fuel in the Region.
Warning that such decrease has nothing to do with the elections that are coming soon - being enough to remember that, four years ago, the last decision of his Government was, exactly, a rise of the price of the fuels -, he explained that the prices, in the Azores, are set taking as a reference the costs of acquisition of the thirty previous days, by which a piece of news of the day, or of eve, cannot provoke immediate change in the prices.
“As it has been coming to be a reasonably consolidated tendency of descent of the price of the barrel of fuel, which is going to allow, in my perspective, if these prices are maintained, to do, still in September, a decrease in the price of the gasoline, and in October a significant decrease in case of the diesel fuel”, said Carlos César.
Underlining that, in the whole case, there are prices of fuels that are still, in the Azores, lower than in the rest of the country - in some cases it becomes to be 60% cheaper -, the president of the Government guaranteed that his executive manages this process “with much seriousness, in benefit of the families, in benefit of the enterprises and not with the exclusive aim of gathering profits”.
