The President of the Government, Vasco Cordeiro, received today in Ponta Delgada a group of legislators from the State of California and members of the California Portuguese American Coalition (CPAC), who are visiting the Azores until Wednesday.
 
The audience, held at Santana Palace, was attended by the California State Assembly Senator Henry Stern, and State Representatives Cecilia Aguiar-Curry and Rudy Salas Jr.
 
The CPAC was represented by its President Diniz Borges and Board members Cliff Costa and Michael Borges.
 
The California Portuguese American Coalition, a non-profit association founded on March 4, 2016, aims to promote the presence of more Luso-descendants in the electoral process and increase the visibility of Luso-American elected officials and civic leaders in California, promoting a stronger collaboration in their respective communities.
 
As a non-profit organisation, CPAC is managed by a board of volunteers and is supported by partners from the Luso-American community. Currently, it has 152 members from all over California.
 
The visit to the Azores by these members of the California State Assembly, which began last Saturday, covers the islands of São Miguel, Faial and Terceira, where various institutional contacts will be established.
 
The President of the Government, Vasco Cordeiro, visited the Azorean communities of California in February, having also met with members of the CPAC at the time.
