President of the Government received CEO of Altice Portugal

The President of the Government received today the CEO of Altice Portugal. The meeting is an opportunity to highlight the relevance of the partnerships to be established between the company's innovation centre (Altice Labs) and the São Miguel Science and Technology Park - NONAGON and Terceira Tech Island.

"This visit gives a perspective on the improvement of the conditions that currently exist for the provision of services to the Azoreans, but, above all, it also gives a future perspective through the partnership with Altice Labs," said Vasco Cordeiro, who spoke after the meeting with Alexandre Fonseca.

Speaking to journalists after the audience requested by the company, Vasco Cordeiro considered that these partnerships with NONAGON and Terceira Tech Island will contribute to the creation of conditions that could foster wealth generation and employment creation in the technologies and communications in the Azores.

"This is a particularly relevant goal for us in opening up and consolidating new areas of development insofar as we intend to continue with these regional structures - NONAGON and Terceira Tech Island," said Vasco Cordeiro.

The President of the Government assured that the Azorean Government has already been working for some time, taking into account that the submarine cables linking the Region to the mainland will need to be replaced by the beginning of the next decade.

"This work is underway and several steps have already been taken and will continue to be taken in order to ensure access to this type of infrastructures and services," which are crucial to the Autonomous Region of the Azores, assured Vasco Cordeiro.
