President of the Government highlights cooperation of the Operational Command of the Azores
The President of the Government stressed the fair relation and cooperation that the Operational Command of the Azores has maintained with the Regional Government, emphasising the role played by the Operational Commander of the Azores.
"At the time when Vice admiral Augusto Mourão terminates his duties as Operational Commander of the Azores, I would like to express my appraisal for his work, dedication, commitment and professionalism with which he carried out his mission in the Azores as well as for the way how the transparent relation and collaboration was established with the Government of the Azores," said Vasco Cordeiro.
Speaking at the end of audience for the exchange of farewell greetings, held in Ponta Delgada, the President of the Government also highlighted the commitment and professionalism of the Armed Forces that take part in search and rescue operations in the archipelago, despite the lack of means, and their level of readiness in the responses provided to the population during natural disasters.
"In recent years, the Azores have not been hit by major natural disasters that involved the collaboration of the Armed Forces; however, it is important to note that the concern with the preparation of these forces to face such events as best as possible has always been present in the actions carried out by the Operational Commander of the Azores.
"I believe that, at this moment of farewell, it is fundamental to highlight the collaboration, the work and the role of the Armed Forces in the Region as well as of the Operational Command of the Azores," said the President of the Government.
