The opening ceremony of the Visitor Centre of the Furna do Exofre (Sulphur Cavern) on the island of Graciosa on April 5 will be one of the milestones of the statutory visit that the Regional Government of the Azores will undertake to that island on Monday and Tuesday. Carlos César, the President of the Government, will preside over the ceremony.
With a cost of 900 thousand Euros, this infrastructure was designed to support visitors, as a place to rest and contemplate the landscape. It also includes a set of technical and scientific information to make visitors acquainted with the geological features of the Furna do Enxofre so that they may understand how this geological structure was formed.
On the same day, Carlos César will preside over the presentation of the project to install the International Station for Monitoring and Detection of Nuclear Tests, IS 42 Graciosa, to take place at the Town Hall.
The President of the Government will also participate in the signature of the awarding contract for the construction of the new Healthcare Centre on Graciosa to be signed between the Regional Secretary for Health and the Company Marques, SA.
Moreover, Carlos César will also visit the construction site of the fish market at the Praia de São Mateus port on Tuesday morning.
In the context of this statutory visit, several members of the Government will hold meeting with the services and organisations of their intervention areas. The agenda also includes visits to ongoing works and interventions.
The Government will meet the Island Council on Monday at 7 PM, followed by the meeting of the Council of the Government at 10 PM.
