The Azorean Parliament will debate this week, by proposal of the Government, the document that regulates the elaboration of the reports on the environment and spatial planning deemed necessary to ensure the right of public participation in the area of environmental policy.
The document is also a framework for the Government’s support to the activity developed by non-governmental organisations that are committed to promote public participation in environmental matters and organise environmental information, awareness raising, educational actions as well as training courses.
By the initiative of the Government, the Legislative Assembly will also discuss a proposal for the amendment of the Incentive Scheme for the Regional Development of the Azores (SIDER) in order to facilitate the access to this programme, thus reducing the levels of financial autonomy required to companies as well as the financing level of the project using equity capital.
The general regulation on bullfighting shows and the amendment to Legal Scheme of Activities Subject to Licensing of the Municipalities, particularly with regard to “touradas à corda” (bullfight on rope) are another governmental initiatives scheduled for the February legislative session, which is takes place from Tuesday to Friday.
