Carlos César presented today, in the Capitães-Generais Palace, the X Regional Government of the Azores, which will be sworn on the 18th, at 15.00 o’clock, in the Legislative Assembly.
In spite of disposing of the same number of regional secretaries – to which gathers a new undersecretary - there are three members who never made part of the Government and, in the whole, seven secretariats change their rules, happening the extinction of the office of Regional Adjunct Secretary of the Vice-presidency, the autonomization of the area of Health in a unique Secretariat and several changes in the competences of each department.
As explained the designated president of the Government, the current model of distribution of the several government departments and respective holders.
So, the Presidency, the Vice-presidency, the regional secretary of the Presidency – in which dependence there will be the regional undersecretary for European Affairs and External Cooperation –, the Regional Secretariat for Science, Technology and Infrastructures and the Regional Secretariat for the Economy will stay in S. Miguel.
In Terceira Island there will be the Regional Secretariat for Education and Training, the Regional Secretariat for Employment and Social Solidarity and the Regional Secretariat for Health.
In the island of Faial there will be the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry and the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and the Sea, in which dependence there will be the Regional undersecretary for Fisheries.
The government, presided by Carlos César, will so be constituted:
Vice president - Dr. Sérgio Ávila, economist, 39 years old;
Regional secretary of the Presidency - Dr. André Bradford, graduated in Social and Cultural Communication, 37 years old;
Regional secretary for Education and Training - Dra. Maria Lina Mendes, graduated in Childhood Education with Master's degree in Sciences of Education, 44 years old;
Regional secretary for Science, Technology and Insfrastructures - Dr. José Contente, university teacher, 50 years old;
Regional secretary for Economy - Dr. Vasco Cordeiro, lawyer, 35 years old;
Regional secretary for Employment and Social Solidarity - Dra. Ana Paula Marques, secondary teaching teacher, 46 years old;
Regional secretary for Health - Dr. Miguel Fernandes Correia, economist, 36 years old;
Regional secretary for Agriculture and Forestry - Dr. Noé Rodrigues, lawyer, 52 years old;
Regional secretary for the Environment and the Sea - Prof. Dr. José Álamo de Meneses, university teacher, 49 years old;
For the office of Regional Undersecretary for European Affairs and External Cooperation Dr. Rodrigo Vasconcelos de Oliveira, lawyer and with a Masters in International Relations, 32 years old, will be nominated, being the Regional Directorate with the same areas extinguished.
As Regional Undersecretary for Fisheries it will keep on being the Commander Marcelo Leal Pamplona, graduated in Naval Military Sciences, 52 years old.
In the opportunity, Carlos César wove praises to the work developed by Duarte Ponte and Domingos Cunha - rulers who ceased their functions with the formation of this new Government -, telling that both obtained very impressive results, whether in the decisive participation in the economical development of the Azores, in case of Duarte Ponte, whether in the definition and regulation of the whole Health area, in what it regards to Domingos Cunha.
