Miguel Albuquerque's visit will "open new horizons" for the Regions, says Vasco Cordeiro
The President of the Regional Government stated today that the visit of the President of Madeira that is taking place will open "new horizons" in the relation between both Autonomous Regions, which had been focused on their status as outermost regions.
"President Miguel Albuquerque's visit, as well as the work that will be developed in this context, allows us to place a relation that was mainly based on the European Union and the assertion of the outermost region status in favour of both Regions," said Vasco Cordeiro.
The President of the Government spoke to journalists on the second day of the visit of the President of the Government of Madeira to the Region, which began with visits to Unileite dairy factory and Pico Vermelho Geothermal Plant. It will also include a meeting the members of both governments to take place in Furnas.
"With this visit, I hope that both Regions realise that they will be benefit if, in addition to discussing their needs of external affirmation, they strengthen this relation in the economic sector," stressed Vasco Cordeiro.
"I think this will be a successful outcome for our meeting and a good result of the visit made by the President of the Government of Madeira to the Azores so that we may open new horizons in the relation" between the Azores and Madeira, stressed Vasco Cordeiro.
