Government of the Azores starts Tuesday statutory visits to Flores and Corvo

The Government of the Azores starts Tuesday statutory visits to the islands of Flores and Corvo. During this visit, Vasco Cordeiro chairs, among other ceremonies, the presentation of the Regional Campaign for the Prevention and Combat to Domestic Violence, the signing of a protocol with Santa Cruz Association of Volunteer Firefighters for the renovation and expansion of the fire station and the laying of the first stone of the rehabilitation of the Home Care Services of "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of Corvo.

During these statutory visits, the first of 2016, the Government of the Azores, as usual, will meet with the Island Councils of Flores and Corvo. It will receive the local population from both Western Group islands that will have the possibility to pose questions directly to the members of the Government. This initiative has been held in all visits made during the current legislative period and falls within the proximity policy pursued by the Government.

The Government of the Azores arrives on Flores at the end of Tuesday morning, travelling on Thursday morning to the island of Corvo on the vessel "Ariel,” where it will stay until Friday.

On Flores and Corvo, the President of the Government has scheduled meetings with representative Agriculture and Fisheries associations, which will also be attended by farmers and fishers from both islands.

In addition to these initiatives, Vasco Cordeiro will chair the presentation of the rehabilitation project of the surrounding area of the south end of Flores Aerodrome and visit the redevelopment work of Fajãzinha, marking the beginning of the repaving of the section of a branch road of this village. Moreover, the President of the Government will visit Assumada - Eco Tourism, where he will deliver the "Miosotis Azores" award.

On Corvo, April 7, Vasco Cordeiro will attend a healthy snack event with diabetic people to mark World Health Day and will visit on the following day the sealing work of the island's landfill.

The programmes of these statutory visits include, as usual, visits of the members of the Government to several ongoing investments on both islands as well as several meetings with private entities from Flores and Corvo.
