The Government of the Azores decided to create the first Shared Services Office in the Region. This entity will responsible for the centralised and integrated management of the human resources of the regional administration as well as for the acquisition and maintenance of common services and goods for the services based on this island.
According to the press release from the meeting of the Council of the Government, held under the Government's statutory visit to Graciosa, "the Shared Services Office is "the first step toward the operationalisation and management of regional public administration services."
At this meeting, the Government also decided to allocate under SIDER a financial incentive of five million Euros in the form of a non-repayable subsidy and 2.9 million Euros as repayable loan to the company Graciólica, which estimates to make a 25 million Euros investment on the island of Graciosa.
The project includes the construction of a wind farm, a photovoltaic park a battery facility to storage the energy produced. With the implementation of this project, it is expected that 65 percent of the energy consumed on Graciosa will come from renewable sources.
The Regional Government also authorised the allocation of 60 thousand Euros to the Portuguese Federation of Underwater Activities for the organisation of the 1st European Underwater Photography Championship to be held on Graciosa from September 3 to 7.
As mentioned in the press release, this measure falls within the Government's "strategy to promote the organisation of a major event in the Azores with the aim of highlighting the different characteristics of each island, thus contributing to the qualification of the regional tourism offer."
Moreover, the Council of the Government will also award 21 thousand Euros to the Nossa Senhora da Luz Social and Parish Centre for the maintenance of an infrastructure that provides immediate support to domestic violence victims as well as for the organisation awareness raising action aimed at the prevention of this social problem.
The Council of the Government will sign an agreement with the Santa Cruz Village Council in the amount of 25 thousand Euros to renovate three degraded houses for social renting programmes. This measure will benefit households with severe housing shortage. It also decided to authorise the development of the renewal project for Carapacho Camping Park, with capacity for 500 people.
The Government determined the cleaning, conservation and maintenance of a 10 km extension of rural and forest roads on the island of Graciosa as well as the development of the water supply system to farms in Fonte do Pontal, village of Guadalupe; the latter will benefit nearly thirty farms. In addition, the Council of the Government authorised the opening of tender procedures for the awarding of the contract work for consolidation works of Santa Cruz da Graciosa Port, with an estimated base price of 500 thousand Euros.
