The Council of the Government has approved a Resolution on the transfer of land located in Mata das Feiticeiras in the municipality of Lagoa, free of charge and definitive, to the State for the construction of the new prison establishment on the island of São Miguel.

According to this Resolution, approved by the Council of the Government that met Tuesday on São Jorge Island, this location has all the conditions for the construction of the new prison establishment. It was chosen following the work developed between the Government of the Azores and the National Government on this process.

Under the Resolution in force, the lapilli found in the aforementioned plot of land, whose removal is deemed necessary, are not part of the transfer. The materials should be stored by the transferee in a place designated by the Region; the transfer process falls within the State's responsibility.
