The President of the Regional Government of the Azores, Carlos César, will open the Praia fishing port on Graciosa Island next Wednesday, at an opening ceremony which is integrated in the official agenda of the statutory visit of the government to that Island.
The new infrastructure to support fisheries, which represents a public investment of nearly 7 million Euros, includes a set of floating piers, sea marking, water supply networks and electric grids, houses for fishing gear and a building to support fisheries.
During the two-day visit to the island of Graciosa, which will start on Tuesday, the Regional Government will also open the Graciosa Resort & Business Hotel and will present the project to build a day nursery and a centre for occupational activities for the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Santa Cruz da Graciosa.
On the first day of the statutory visit, the Government will visit the scientific infrastructure of the ARM (Atmospheric Radiation Measurement) project, implemented by the Department of Energy of the United States of America in 1990, with the purpose of studying the impact of radiation and clouds in climate models.
