Government assured 25 days of coastal monitoring in the Western Group of the Archipelago in 2008
The coastal monitors of the Regional Government of the Azores assured 25 days of monitoring of fishing activities in coastal, portal and maritime areas of the islands of Flores and Corvo in the beginning of 2008 and during the present month.
The governmental monitors are responsible for supervising and controlling the activities of fishing boats operating on Corvo island's Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve.
In order to better articulate the monitoring process, the Regional Fisheries Inspectorate co-ordinates its activities with the local command centres of the Navy and Maritime Police.
