Fisheries deposit of Vila Franca will be built during the mandate of this Government
The building where the fisheries deposit of Vila Franca will be located will be built by the Regional Government in this mandate. The fisheries deposit will be used for the safe storage of fish.
The project is nearing completion and once it is completed it will be analysed and debated with the fishermen of Vila Franca do Campo. However, a final estimate of its cost can only be ascertained after the final version of the project is submitted to a public contest that will determine which company secures the construction contract.
At this point in time, the spot where the building will be built was paved so that it can be used as a temporary port area.
The construction of this infrastructure, a very important undertaking for the fishermen of Vila Franca, resulted from a pledge made by the President of the Regional Government of the Azores to the local fishermen, a pledge that he intends to honour, just as the already fulfilled pledge of building a fishing port.
The renovation of the Fisheries Collection Service of the Azores in the past few years, namely, the building of collection posts and the centralisation of fish sales in eleven regional Collection Posts has conferred greater commercial value to fisheries, thus benefiting the Azorean fishermen.
