Financing of 18 thousand euros for recuperation and conservations of boats and whale vessel in Faial and Pico
The Government of the Azores is going to finance in 18 thousand euros the execution of works of conservation and recuperation of several boats and of a vessel pertaining to the whale heritage of several towns of the islands of Faial and Pico.
The attribution of government supports in values that vary between 500 euros (simple conservation of a boat) and 11 thousand euros (repair of a boat of Piedade do Pico) was object of contracts established between the Regional Direction for Culture of the Presidency of the Government and some village councils of the two islands.
Shut down in the eighties of the twentieth century, the whale hunting constituted during decades an important economical activity in the Azores, especially in the Central Group islands he, holding to its commitment the Government of Carlos César the preservation of the associated heritage, of the vessels to the factories of extraction of whale oil.
