The President of the Regional Government welcomed the President of the Azorean House of Quebec (CAQ), Benjamim Moniz, at an audience at the Sant’Ana Palace on Tuesday morning.
Claiming to be carrying a greeting message from the Azoreans living in that Canadian province, the President of CAQ informed Carlos César about the current situation of the institution, whose activities have contributed to bring together the emigrants in cultural, civic and religious events that enhance their unity and strengthens their attachment to the Azores.
Moreover, the organisation and development of support services – whether information or logistics services – that enable an easier integration of emigrants in the Quebecois society so that they become exemplar Canadians without forgetting their Azorean roots.
Benjamim Moniz is the latest President of the Azorean House of Quebec; he has led this institution since the beginning of the year. At the present moment, the institution has four hundred members.
As it was explained to Carlos César, the leaders of CAQ aim to significantly increase that number as, according to reliable estimates, nearly seventy-eight thousand Azorean emigrants live in the province of Quebec.
