Carlos César wants to repeat the successful experience of the Azores Week in Lisbon
The President of the Government considered the importance of establishing a regular cooperation between the Cultural and Congress Centre of the Teatro Micaelense and the Teatro São Luiz in Lisbon.
For Carlos César, “it is a strategic collaboration, with regard to the cultural projection of the Azores in Mainland Portugal and among other audiences.” It is now necessary, “taking into account this experience,” to enhance the interaction with the cultural sector of Mainland Portugal, particularly with the cultural agents, in addition to the Azorean public residing in Lisbon.”
The President of the Government spoke at the end of the concert by the Regional Orchestra Lira Açoriana at the Teatro de São Luiz, an event that closed the Azorean Culture Week in Lisbon. It was attended by dozens of personalities, among whom the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Jaime Gama, the Minister of Culture, Gabriela Canavilhas, and the President of the Lisbon City Hall, António Costa.
The Regional Orchestra Lira Açoriana, which received a standing ovation, played works by Reineke and Wagner, among others, closed the concert with compositions and arrangements of traditional music by the Azorean composers Antero Ávila and Hélder Bettencourt.
The Azorean Week in Lisbon, promoted by the Regional Directorate of Culture in a partnership with the Teatro São Luiz and the Teatro Micaelense, turned the city of Lisbon into a stage where various cultural initiatives were disseminated from concerts, conferences, exhibitions, gastronomy to the exhibition of a film.
