Carlos César states that the Azores know the poor and acknowledge their rights

The President of the Government conveyed his belief that with regard to the Social Integration Income (RSI) – a social measure “that we consider important in the social support scheme of the Azores” - the Legislative Assembly may play an active role in the continuous assessment of its implementation.

Carlos César spoke during the debates generated by the interpellation raised PSD to the Government on the economic and social situation of the Azores and added that the Assembly may also “analyse the situation of the RSI and reflection on its meaning as well as on its strategic content, taking into account the beneficiaries of this measure.”

The president even said that the members of the Assembly could reflect, consult social partners, question the consequences of that measure, try to understand the processes underlying this measure and their approval, which families are eligible or not,” after which the Assembly should make recommendations to the Government.

Clarifying that the support to the poor will not be neglected, Carlos César stressed that “a fortunate region, country or society is the one that these social support tools, because this means that it is a society that knows its poor and acknowledges their rights.”
