The President of the Government of the Azores considered that the decision Socialist Party took a good decision when removed the matters related to the Finance Act of the Autonomous Regions from the political agenda due to the recent events occurred in Madeira.
Speaking to the RTP-Açores, Carlos César said that “gathering all the energies available in the country to support the Regional Government of Madeira and all other institutions committed to recover from the recent catastrophe that struck Madeira is a national imperative.”
Reminding that the Azores unfortunately have a long and continuous experience of several catastrophes, the President of the Regional Government said that the Azoreans know how important is too feel supported in difficult situations.
“In these moments, the most important thing is to know that we are not alone, that we have our own capacity, our own initiative and that our autonomy may really help us to solve effectively our problems in these circumstances, but we may also rely on an unconditional solidarity,” emphasised Carlos César.
For the President of the Government, “excluding the Finance Act of the Autonomous Regions from the current political debate is important to convey peace and courage that are fundamental to the tasks that the Regional Government of Madeira has to undertake, which are very difficult.”
