Carlos César will join again the Political Bureau of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) as President of the Islands Commission of the aforementioned inter-regional cooperation body.
During the General Assembly of the 38th Annual Meeting of the CPMR, taking place in the city of Aberdeen, President of the Government suggested that the bureau’s meeting, scheduled for next June, be held in the Azores.
The proposal was approved by the members of that body, being supported by the new President of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of Europe, Jean-Yves le Driene, who was also elected at that meeting with the support of Carlos César.
The Political Bureau of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of Europe is the high-level management body of the CPMR with a two-year term which meets three times a year, one at the General Assembly, held this year in Aberdeen.
It is a collegial body that integrates one representative from each country – a permanent representative and a substitute, who are by the member regions - as well as the presidents of each of the geographical commissions of the CPMR, an organisation made up of more than 160 coastal and island regions in Europe.
