In 2008, the nine Azorean airports and aerodromes received a total of 1.9 million passenger.

According to the Statistics National Office (INE), this figure shows a slight decrease  of 0.8% in relation to the same period in 2007.

However, in 2008 there was an increase of 2.2% in the number of landings, which rose from 16.869 to 17.244.

Data from INE shows that in the airports of Ponta Delgada, Lajes and Horta  there was a decrease in the number of embarked, disembarked and direct transit passengers of 2.1%, 2.2% and 0.5% respectively.

On the other hand, the airport of Santa Maria saw an increase of 3.3%, and there were increases of 9.7%, 4.3% and 2.4% in the movement of passengers between the islands of Flores, Graciosa and S.Jorge, respectively.
