Exhibition “Nostalgia of naval carpentry – memory and identity” at the Pico Museum
The Exhibition of vessel models “Nostalgia of naval carpentry – memory and identity” will be open at the Whaling Museum on July 2 at 9:30 PM. This initiative of the Pico Museum/Regional Directorate of Culture/Presidency of the Government integrates the Activity Plan of the Pico Museum for 2010.
This exhibition is an initiative that aims to evoke the memory of material culture associated the shipbuilding tradition on Pico Island. The presentation of magnificent set vessel models made in wood that had a profound influence in the imaginary of the Island and the Azores allows to pay tribute to inventive genius of the great shipbuilders from Pico as well as to claim the shipbuilding as one of its brand images at a regional and national level.
The exhibition will be open to the public at the Whaling Museum until October 31 and may be visited during its regular operating hours.
