President of the Government awarded works for 945 thousand euros in the Graciosa Museum
The president of the Government awarded, for 945 thousand euros, the works of enlargement of the Graciosa Museum, an undertaking with a term of execution of ten months.
In the terms of a dispatch of Carlos César, the intervention, included in the Government’s policy of defence and safeguard of the architectural and cultural heritage, was handed to the Edifer Construções Enterprise.
The works that will be developed in the Graciosa Museum, as part of a project of architecture of Mariana Godinho, will allow the enlargement of the respective building of 376 for 549 square meters.
The useful area that will be added to the current building of the museum, which will hold welcoming spaces - reception / tourism post, cafeteria and shop – administrative services, temporary and permanent exhibition spaces and reservation rooms and of Educative Service, was planned in order to coexist with the pre-existent building, which will provide lodging for a zone of exhibition and interpretation of presses and ethnographical collections connected to the winegrowing production.
The vine culture, while traditional activity of the economy of Graciosa, will keep on constituting the privileged centre of the institution’s museographic project, which opened in 1983 like Ethnographical House.
