Ponta Delgada Public Library continues cycles “Jazz at Colégio” and “Cinema on Holidays”

Under the cycle “Jazz at Colégio” (Jazz no Colégio), the Ponta Delgada Library and Regional Archive will exhibit the film “Bird” by Clint Eastwood on July 28.
Being presented by João Nuno Almeida e Sousa, this 1988 film is based on the life of Charlie “Yardbird” Parker through the melody that only Jazz possesses. Past and future alternate, as the film portrays Bird’s constructive ability and his destructive excesses.
Clint Eastwood is a great Jazz fan and his dedication earned him a Golden Globe for Best Director for this exciting story, with Forest Whitetaker and Diane Venore in the leading roles.
With free-admittance sessions, the exhibition of the film, addressed at people over 16, will take place at the Library’s auditorium at 9:30 PM.
Meanwhile, following-up the project “Cinema on Holidays” (Cinema em Férias), the Ponta Delgada Public Library and Regional Archive will exhibit last summer’s musical hit “Mamma Mia!” on the same day at 10 AM.
At the sound of ABBA’s most popular songs, the almost bride Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is searching for her father before the big day. But there is a problem... she is not sure who he is.
After secretly reading the old diaries of her mother, Donna (Meryl Streep), she finds out that her father could be one of her mother’s lovers of the past. Knowing that her mother would not agree, Amanda invites them all to the wedding.
The film “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” in a distant galaxy... the Star Wars saga continues the first animated film ever created by Lucasfilm Animation, and this film will be shown on July 30 at 2:30 PM.
With some of your favourite characters and a series of new ones, this is Star Wars as you have never seen it.
The films, which one can watch by appointment, will be exhibited at the auditorium of the Ponta Delgada Public Library, being addressed at children over six years old.
