The Ponta Delgada Public Library and Regional Archive (BPARPD) promotes this Wednesday yet another “Book Vitamin” initiative. This initiative is a part of an outreach project developed in partnership with the Paediatrics’ Service of the Hospital of Divino Espírito Santo.
With the organisation of this event, which will commence at 16:30 hrs, the BPARPD endeavours to promote literary interest and encourage reading habits amongst the children who are under the care of the Paediatrics Service.
On Friday, at 10 AM, the “Search and Find” tutorial will take place. Its objective is to teach the youngsters how to use the on-line search engine-catalogue of the library.
This initiative, intended for youngsters between the ages of seven and eighteen years, will take place in the Reading Room. The youngsters that are interested in participating in this event must make an appointment beforehand.
Next Tuesday, at 10 A.M, the “Ala Bote” initiative will begin at the Morada da Escrita-Casa Armando Côrtes-Rodrigues.
The “Ala Bote” outreach initiative is meant for youngsters with ages between eight and fifteen years. Its purpose is to make these youngsters explore the life of an Azorean writer.
One hour and a half later, the “Lobo do Mar” story-telling initiative will begin. It will be about a writer whose many stories revolve around his passionate love for the sea and the whales.
Next Thursday and Friday, the “Chá das Cinco” events will take place. This week, the public will view the DVD “Toadas do Mar e da Terra”, a bio-bibliographical documentary film about the writer Dias de Melo, directed by José Medeiros.
This event is scheduled to commence at 15:30 hrs and will last for 130 minutes.
Another activity planned for the Morada da Escrita is the “Tardes da Inge”. This initiative is intended for persons who wish to perfect their English language skills.
On the 10th of January, beginning at 14 hrs, the writer Inge Perreault will present another lecture about the language of Shakespeare.
