The Angra do Heroísmo Public Library and Regional Archive promotes on 1st of October, at 17.30 o’clock, the public presentation of the register of the Tomás Borba documentary fund.
The presentation of this register is included in the commemorations of the World Music Day, which is celebrated next Wednesday, and it will be in charge of Duarte Gonçalves da Rosa and José Elmiro Rocha.
The estate of this great Azorean educationalist and composer, who was master of Lopes Graça and friend of Teófilo Braga, is deposited in the Angra do Heroísmo Public Library and Regional Archive, by donation of the family.
Closing this session in the Palace Bettencourt, there will have place a concert, during which it will be executed, in absolute first night, quartet “Tres Soledades”, of the young Catalan composer Carles Valls i Pons, inspired in the traditional music of Terceira and in that of his Country.
Composed for flute, clarinet, trumpet and guitar, the work will be interpreted by Rodrigo Lima, Oleg Gunko, Paulo Borges and José António Sousa, respectively.
Carles Valls i Pons is a young and known Catalan composer, with diploma in Specialized Music Teaching and graduated in Composition by the Catalonia Music College.
He made composition studies with Salvador Brotons, Agustí Charles and Albert Guinovart, having attended, still, several seminaries carried out by composers of international prestige like Helmut Lachenmann.
He equally did equally courses of Direction of Chorus and Orchestra with Antoni Ros Marbà, Lluís Vila, Pep Vila, Francesc Llongueras, among others, and he studied interpretation in the piano with Cristina Bescós and Ludovica Mosca.
Meantime, and like what it happened already in 2007, the Angra do Heroísmo Public Library and Regional Archive will dedicate October to the Music, by which there will have place there, every Wednesdays of the month, at 15.30 o’clock, small musical concerts.
