Hundreds of people spent the weekend in the Parish of Água Retorta to see and buy the gastronomic and handcrafted products of the IV exhibition dedicated solely for this purpose.

The goal of the Gourmet Exhibition of Agricultural Products, which took place on the 5th and 6th of July at the House of the European people located within the Parish, was to unite flavors and traditions in order to promote food, as well as the highest quality of preparation and production that  Água Retorta has to offer.

The initiative came, once again, from the Parish Council whose desire is to permanently include their products in Água Retorta gastronomic and tourist map of the island of São Miguel.

During the opening ceremony, Pedro Melo, Vice-President of the municipality of Povoação, and Anabela Isidoro, Regional Director of Forestry, praised the event, the commitment and the will of the people of Água Retorta for their expression and promotion of their cuisine and craftsmanship, showcasing skills that were handed down from generation to generation.

A wide range of craft products, as well as other local delicacies including homemade bread, sweet bread, thick porridge, sweet rice, roasted corn, sausages, jams, liqueurs, Fajã do Calhau wine and the renowned Água Retorta cheese were on sale during this event, some items were sold out by Sunday.

The exhibition gave the craftsmen and local producers the opportunity to feature and display their work in addition to showcasing the support they have received from the local township regarding the dissemination of information highlighting their talents and products.

The Exhibition of Agricultural Products in Água Retorta presented in this fourth edition, with an updated model, was a success due in part to the close cooperation between the Parish Council, Engineer Álvaro Vitorino and the Agrarian Services Development of São Miguel Island; this exhibition also had the support of the Municipality of the Povoação.
