Protected Area with sustainable use of natural resources of Costa Este

The Protected Area with sustainable use of natural resources of Costa Este corresponds to a sea area of 362, 85 ha. It is located on the southern border, while the Habitat /Species Management area of Ponta do Arnel is located on the northern border of Protected Area with sustainable use of natural resources of Costa Este.

Its rocky bottom serves as habitat for many specimens of marine flora and fauna, sustaining small algae, crustaceans, fish, shellfish and seabirds. The need for protection is paramount for a sustainable use of these resources for fishing and other activities of minimal impact on the environment.

Protected Area with sustainable use of natural resources of Costa Este also includes the Strict Reserve  for the Capture of Limpets of Nordeste (Ponta do Arnel to Ponta da Madrugada), established with the aim of ensuring the conservation and management of the populations of limpets (Patella spp.).

The beach of Lombo Gordo, located at the base of the cliff, is a pleasant and peaceful place, where one can enjoy the vastness of the sea and admire the best views of the sunrise.

The viewpoints of Vista dos Barcos, Ponta da Madrugada and Ponta do Sossego offer wide panoramic views of this protected area.
